Nurturing Infant Care for Babies 6 Weeks to 12 Months

Your baby's first experience with childcare matters.

You want more than a safe place for your baby to spend the day. You want caring adults who recognize your baby's individual needs, respond to their cues and provide opportunities for healthy development.

At Kaida Childcare, our Infant Care program welcomes babies from 6 weeks through 12 months.

We create a warm, responsive environment where babies can develop relationships, explore their surroundings and reach important developmental milestones at their own pace.

A More Individualized Infant Environment

One of the important advantages of Kaida is our intentionally limited Infant classroom capacity. California licensing standards establish minimum staffing requirements for infant care. Kaida's Infant classroom capacity is intentionally limited so that, when the classroom is fully enrolled, our staffing structure can provide a more favorable teacher-to-child environment than the minimum standard alone.

Our goal is simple:

  • More opportunity for meaningful interaction, observation and individualized attention.
  • For babies, those everyday interactions matter.

Your Baby Is More Than a Number

Infants don't all eat, sleep, communicate or develop in exactly the same way.

  • One baby may love music.
  • Another may be fascinated by textures.
  • One may be eager to crawl.
  • Another may be taking their time.

Teachers observe these differences and respond to individual needs while providing a consistent, nurturing classroom experience.

Learning Begins at Birth

Babies learn through relationships and experiences.

Language Development

Talking, singing, reading and responding to babies help create a language-rich environment.

Physical Development

Age-appropriate movement experiences support developing coordination and motor skills.

Cognitive Development

Exploring objects, textures, sounds and cause-and-effect experiences encourages curiosity and early problem-solving.

Social-Emotional Development

Warm, responsive interactions help babies build trust and positive relationships.

Sensory Development

Babies discover their world through touch, sight, sound, movement and other age-appropriate sensory experiences.

A Gentle Transition From Home to Childcare

We understand that starting childcare can be emotional for parents and babies.

Families can share information about their baby's routines, preferences and changing needs so teachers can better understand the child.

Our teachers pay attention to cues, communicate with families and help create consistency between home and childcare.

Parent Communication

Communication with parents is an important part of infant care.

  • Kaida provides families with digital parent communication so they can stay connected with their child's day and communicate with the center.
  • We do not want technology to replace personal communication. It should support it.

Safe, Responsive, Developmentally Appropriate Care

Our infant environment is designed around the needs of very young children.

We focus on responsive caregiving, age-appropriate activities, supervision, routines and opportunities for development.

Infant FAQ

What ages are included in the Infant Program?

Kaida's Infant Program is designed for babies approximately 6 weeks to 12 months old. We provide a nurturing environment focused on safety, responsive care, early development and each child's individual needs.

What does a typical day look like for infants?

Infant schedules are built around each baby's individual needs. Feeding, naps, diapering, play and interaction are balanced throughout the day. Teachers provide age-appropriate experiences while responding to each child's cues and routine.

How do you handle feeding and naps?

We work with families to understand each baby's individual feeding and sleep routines. Teachers provide care according to each child's needs while following applicable health and safety requirements.

How do teachers support infant development?

Teachers provide age-appropriate opportunities for movement, sensory exploration, communication, social interaction and early cognitive development. Everyday experiences such as talking, singing, reading and playing are important parts of an infant's learning.

How do you help infants adjust to childcare?

Starting childcare is a major transition for both babies and parents. Our teachers provide consistent, responsive care and help infants gradually become comfortable with their new environment, caregivers and daily routines.

How do you communicate with parents?

Kaida uses Brightwheel to help families stay connected with their child's day. Parents can view information such as attendance, meals and food, diaper changes, naps and daily activities through the app. Brightwheel also provides a convenient way for parents and teachers to communicate and share important updates throughout the day.
